The Top 10 Tips to Teach People to Remember to Read ALL the Instructions!Category: Humor, Jokes, Trivia, Miscellaneous (BX84)Originally Submitted on 9/12/97. Many of us are in such a hurry to spring into action that we don't take time to contemplate what we are about to do, let alone read the instructions all the way through first. The exercise that follows is guaranteed to help people to remember, once they have participated in it. Items 2-9 may be altered so as to be appropriate for the participants, but some should always involve overt, and preferably loud, activity that might make people feel at least slightly foolish. 1. Read all the instructions that follow before beginning the exercise. 2. Finish the following: 370 + 220 3. Check your watch or the wall clock, count out loud to fifty as fast as you can, check to see how long it took you. Write down the total number of seconds. 4. Walk around the room checking for five things that absolutely should not be there, that are totally out of place. When you find one, say out loud what it is. 5. Move into the center of the room and act out, speaking loudly, what you would do/say if your teenage son or daughter (or, for teenagers, younger brother or sister) were caught smoking marijuana. 6. Finish the following sequence: a b c d e f ___ 7. Stand up, stretch, bend down and get as close to touching your toes as you comfortably can. 8. Say the alphabet backwards, out loud. 9. Check your watch or the wall clock, take a deep breath, make a humming noise and keep on for as long as you can without drawing breath. Write down how long that was. 10. Now that you have read all the instructions it is important that you not smile or laught out loud! Maintaining a serious expression, ignore all the instructions except #1 and #10. You have just followed #1, now follow #10. Put down your pen/pencil and sit quietly. Do not in any way indicate to others in the group if their activities are not appropriate.
