The Top 10 Ways To Build Your DatabaseCategory: Entrepreneurs, Small Business, Home Office (AA517)Originally Submitted on 4/24/2005. First, your databases are your basic building community tool. Build two - one online using an ezine and one off line, you use to mail information. Then ... remember to them often. Email an ezine to subscribers at least monthly and a printed newsletter, postcards, article, etc. at least once a quarter. Follow-up is as important as building your lists! 1. Place a subscription box on every page of your web site. 2. When someones gives you their business card, ask for permission to add the person to your database. Have them sign the card, then save it. 3. If you forget to ask for permission to add someone to your database, send them a complimentary copy of your newsletter, with a note saying that they're not subscribed, but if they'd like to be - click here. 4. Put a note on your business collateral that says "Free tips, visit our site and join our ezine". 5. When selling your items, say at trade shows, put a note on your form stating that you will add those people to your database. And that unsubscribing directions are posted on each issue. 6. When you teach a class, pass around a contact sheet that gives you permission to add the students to your ezine. Save that list. 7. Submit articles to article banks and gain links back to your site. ArticleBanks.com 8. Advertise in the ezines of others. Create an ad swaps with other similar ezine owners. 9. Purchase subscribers. Yes, there are companies that have programs for you to do that. Just make sure that your hosting company allows to purchase them. 10. Know that the most successful way to quickly build a database is through the use of pop ups - something that I don't recommend.
