Here are 10 quick solutions that will provide fast relief from stress.

1. Slow down.

If you are rushing when you talk, drive or go about your day, slow down. A slower pace may decrease your rush of adrenaline and calm down your body physically.

2. Schedule early morning appointments.

If you need to see a physican or have another appointment where you are usually kept waiting, ask for the very first appointment they have in the morning. This will eliminate or minimize the chance that you may have to spend time waiting for the appointment.

3. Cut down phone time.

If you feel you are spending time on the phone because you just can't get the other person off, try telling them how busy you are at the start of the call. You might say something like, "Hi, John, I only have 5 minutes before I have to go to a meeting, but I wanted to call and quickly ask you..." or "Sue, I am so glad you called. I can spend 5 minutes with you because I am working under a deadline."

4. Rent a video that is funny.

5. Play a game.

6. Read.

Find an enjoyable novel and instead of working on the train or over lunch, read your book.

7. Wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual and enjoy the free half hour of time.

8. Allow twice as long as you think you need for getting places or finishing projects.

9. Get a massage (often)!

10. Let someone else drive.

Either car-pool or take public transportation and sit back and enjoy conversation, music, reading or even a nap.
