Coaching Tip: Keep Web Information Updated

Introduction
If you have information about your coaching practice out on the Web, it is important to keep it current.
The Coaching Tip
There is always a thrill involved in setting up your first web site, whether you have hired a professional, used a free template service, or done the whole thing yourself. Some discipline is needed in making sure that the site stays current. The more complex your site, the more difficult it may be to remember to update each page on a regular basis. However, if you do not update regularly, you may find yourself attracting the clients you were coaching last year, and not those you seek to attract this year. Even the coach referral sites at Coach University and ICF need regular adjustments in your data as you grow as a coach, and your coaching practice changes accordingly. To go even further afield, where have you left your name and information in public areas of major web sites and portals? Is that information still current? (I recently came across information left over two years ago at a major portal by someone I know. She has since changed both her legal name and her e-mail address but had not thought of updating the information on the web.) On a regular basis, set a date when you will devote a chunk of time to updating your site so that it reflects your current vision, presents your current mission, and appeals to the clients you currently seek. Remember to change your key words as appropriate to the changes in the site. And, in between times, tweak regularly.
