Introduction

The art of practice building needs constant attention and upkeep.

The Coaching Tip

If a piano player, or an athlete, reaches a peak of skill and success, s/he does not then stop practicing. Practice continues on a regular basis, and the individual knows that without practice s/he will soon lose the "edge" that results in success.

Yet when people have established a business practice (be it in coaching or any other professional field), success is too often followed by a slacking off of exactly those activities that brought that success in the first place.

In truth, the pipeline that brings us our clients always needs tending, needs to be kept full. Observe carefully what you were doing in the two or three months before your most successful time as far as attracting clients is concerned. Did you then stop doing it? And did you continue to attract as many clients? Probably not.

Keep tending the pipeline, keep on practice building even when your practice seems full. When you make it a regular habit it becomes an investment in the future - your future.
