Introduction

If converting a hobby to a business is difficult, a business plan may help.

The Coaching Tip

Sometimes the switch from doing something as a spare-time hobby to doing it as a real business in the home can be difficult, both for the individual and for any family members involved.

One aid in solving this problem can be a business plan. Although coaches, and sometimes their clients, may not need the deeply detailed business plan that is required if one is seeking capital, nonetheless the development of a plan helps to focus the mind, clarify goals, and to show clearly where the home/business boundaries may need to be.

Making family members aware of the plan, or even involving them in its development, can also help them to understand that this IS now a business, and needs to be respected accordingly.
