Coaching Tip: Spiritual Coaching - Part II Out-of-call activities

Category: Coaching Secrets (CS391)

Introduction

Because spirituality is so intensely personal, it is not always easy for an outside person to be involved in what is essentially a connection between the client and What/Whomever the client experiences as Creator. A previous Spiritual Coaching tip mentioned things that can be done during a spiritual coaching call. The current tip relates to out-of-call activities that may be helpful for the client to practice and consider.

The Coaching Tip

There is a reason why meditation is recommended, in one form or another, in almost every established religion. In meditation we cut down on the day-today noise, and so are more able to become aware of more subtle signals. Different clients respond best to different forms of meditation. BIt is wise for the coach to become aware of the variety of forms of meditation so that you can give guidance, and encourage the development of a meditation routine.

How does the client’s spirituality interact with day-to-day activities? Does it? If not, what is happening for the client? These are questions that a coach can suggest the client ask on a regular basis. Spirituality can inform our interactions with people, our decisions, our thoughts. The more a client can become aware of this interaction, the more powerful it will become.

What other spirituality-related practices would the client like to practice? Client and coach can work on building these into the routine of daily life in the same way that one works on building exercise or other positive activities into a regular routine.

(Part I – During the call.
Part II – Out-of-call activities.
Part III – Some of the many varieties of Spiritual Journaling)

These Spirituality Coaching tips do NOT presume to take the place of religious guidance and direction that may be given in the context of organized religion. They recognize that some clients seek a spiritual component to their coaching separate from any specific religious activity.
