Introduction

Develop a list of your own unique strategic competencies and never forget that they are your springboard to success.

The Coaching Tip

When we begin any new venture, it is wise to look at and learn from those who are ahead of us in the same field, those who are already successful. However, in this there is a danger that can undermine our own forward movement. This is the danger that we will be so bedazzled by the strengths and successes of these leaders in our field that we will lose confidence in our own abilities.

It is certain that you (or substitute your clients if you are thinking of them rather than of yourself) have skills, strengths and experience that differ from those of the people of whom you are in awe, and that are equally impressive. It is even likely, human nature being what it is, that those people would be as daunted by your assets as you are by theirs.

Not only will it boost your confidence to have a list of your own strategic competencies that you keep prominently before you, but it will help you to stay focused in your marketing and general business focus.
